For three generations, our family has been renowned for exceptional wine production, blending tradition with innovation to create exquisite wines. Now, under the stewardship of Mr Suneet Lal and Mrs Nidhi Lal, this legacy continues with a renewed vision and commitment to quality. Each bottle of Barbot-Gallet wine is a testament to the craftsmanship and heritage that define our vineyards.
Our Journey began with Mr Lal. He was a man of remarkable vision and courage. In 1962, he was selected for the prestigious Indian Administrative Service (IAS), but instead of settling into a comfortable government job, he chose the challenges of the business world. He began his journey at Jagatjit Industries, one of India’s top liquor companies at the time. For six years, Mr Lal dedicated himself to his role there, but his ambitions eventually led him to the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) in 1969.
Unfortunately, his time in the Indian Foreign Service was cut short, leading him to return to Jagatjit Industries, where he quickly rose through the ranks, demonstrating exceptional leadership skills. In 1985, Mr Lal’s entrepreneurial spirit took flight, leading him to start a business focused on brewery plants and alcohol tanks. His unwavering commitment to quality laid a strong foundation for future success.
Driven by his passion for wine, Mr Lal dreamt of creating something truly special – a blend of Indian fervour and French winemaking excellence. This dream was embraced by his son, Mr Suneet Lal, and daughter-in-law, Mrs Nidhi Lal, who worked tirelessly to make it a reality. Despite the hurdles posed by the pandemic, they persevered and brought Chateau Barbot-Gallet into the Lal family. Now, this historic vineyard, with a rich 194-years legacy, is undergoing an exciting transformation. The Lal family is honouring its past while shaping a brilliant future, blending cultures and crafting wines that tell a story of passion, heritage, and innovation. Chateau Barbot-Gallet is more than just a vineyard; it’s a living testament to the Lal family’s journey. Three generations of hard work, dedication, and love have woven this remarkable tale.
